(sorry about the thread name pun! :p )

Do you buy them regularly? What type/make?

I used to buy the tree, but gave up as it looks tacky, IMHO. Then there was the dash mounted one, with 3 different fragrances available by turning the vent on the freshener. I must be honest though, I haven’t used one in a while now. So what’s the latest fad? What about the ones that plugs into the cigarette lighter? When I was on holidays this year, all the taxi drivers we had were using them. Mind you I didn’t really smell it – perhaps it just neutralises odours? So are they any good?

Which one is your favourite? Obviously the smell is of a personal preference, but which ones give a good dose of fragrance without being overpowering, and at the same time lasts the longest?

Oh yeah, what about this new Frabeeze (sp?) ? According to the ads, spray it on your upholstery and it removes odours and refereshens it back to new. Has anyone tried it?

It all depends on the woman that you have in the car at the time. :p Some womens perfume is so overpowering that it can Kill All Known Germs DEAD!!!......... so no matter what fresher you use, it just does'nt do a damn thing.

I use to use those little bally things in stead of the tree. They looked like a small wooden ball which I use to hang out of the rear mirror. Pretty good and lasts a fair old while.

As for Frabeeze, I hav'nt had to go that far yet. ;)

We fogg our cars when they smell. Its a special cemichal that we put into a fogging machine the same kind that you can find on the dancefloors. We just remove the dustfilter and make the fogg go thru the ventilation system and into the car.

Make sure the car is heaten up first.

It works for us. Takes a lot of cigarett smell and other stuff too. Just make sure the textiles are washed and the plastic is cleaned.

Hej Runaway Boy,

Welcome to the forum. Its nice to see somebody in the
profession making an appearance on this part of the forum!!

Fogging is supposed to be pretty good but there are a lot of chemical clean-ups to be done. Its not really something to
recommend to home-users either. I use an enzyme-based spray which goes straight onto the surfaces of the interior. It basically breaks down the proteins and kills the bacteria which cause the odour. Like fogging, it leaves no smell behind - unlike domestic sprays such as Febreze (man that stuff is over-powering). My stuff can be sprayed directly into the air in-takes as well, since you can get all sorts of mould/ fungus in there. If you are interested, let me know. You don't need to do all the cleaning up of the Fogging chemicals afterwards either.

For people at home, I recommend vacuuming the car regularly. A lot of smell comes directly from the carpet. The headlining is also a source of odour. I use a fabric foam-cleaner here. Spray it on and lightly agitate with a soft brush. Remove by gently wiping over with a soft cotton cloth. It's not the deepest of cleaning but does the job reasonably well.

How are things in Sweden? The Snow must be slowing trade for you?

Hej Da.
Take Care Out There.

PS. Those little wooden danglies are nicely fragrant. But when I used one, I found I had nothing to actually hang it from (I hate hanging things from my mirror). I had to hang it from a knob on one of the vents and after a short while, it ate into the plastic it was resting against. Moral: If you dangle, then dangle free!!:p
