Well I know this has been done before, but well, another summer and another load of summer hits.(unfortunately) ;)

So what are people listening to and where do you go for a cruise. Favourite roads and tunes!!??

Personally I like to fill the Autochanger with a mixture of relatively older hits, the current stuff with few exeptions does nothing for me.

A bit of Don Henley, The Who, Ocean Colour Scene, Paul Weller, The Eagles, Brian Adams etc. http://www.eforecourt.com/UBB/smoke.gif

'Scuse me! Junior - what DG stuff have you heard so far? Just the stuff that has hit the charts in the last number of months or do you possess his other 3 albums? If not, then don't pass judgement on what you have not heard.

Music is personal taste - I like listening to DG's stuff while I'm driving - keeps me calm and relaxed which is a good thing in Dublin traffic!

Junior sounds like you have yourself a right little mixing studio going there, must get a mix of club/dance music off ya at some stage :)

I myself don't have a CD stacker in the car, or even a single CD player at that :( So I resort to listening to the radio, which, believe me or not, is a lot more interesting than a few years ago. There's all types of stations out there, from Classic (Classic FM), Light (Lite FM), general (FM104, 98FM (Dubs only), CKR, WLR etc), to uncountable pirate dance/club stations (well there are in Dublin anyway). I have to say that my favourite would be ESG (Essential Galaxy), which pumps out the club music like no one else :) That fact the the Megane has radio controls at the steering wheel which makes it so simple to change station/search, and with the sheer number of different radio stations that satisfy most tastes , I personally don't have a need for a CD player. But when the in-car MP3 player becomes mainstream, well that's a different kettle of fish altogether!

Guys,

For some reason, in warm weather , windows down, arm flexed over the edge of the door, R&B music seems to sound a whole lot better than usual......Im not usually a fan but it has that kind of dreamy, cool atmosphere to it in good weather........

Ivo, sounds like you are one of those guys who go around with a brown right arm, and a white left one. Unless of course you have a left-hand drive ;)

I have never bothered to tune in a radio station around here. My CD stack currently contains among others Rush, Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Kenny Wayne Sheppard, AC/DC, Tribal Tech, and finally the greatest car music of all time, ZZ Top.

The little exposure I'm getting to Irish radio, I have to say that it probably has improved recently. The music is still mostly crap for sure and I can't stand talk shows or call-in shows, but some of the DJs/presenters aren't all bad.

That's a good mixture of rock you've got there Anders. I'd say with that type of music pumping it would be fairly tempting to put the foot down in the RX-7 :) I must admit though, I too would be partial to a bit of ZZ Top myself (especially their video's ;) ). I'm not sure I know Kenny Wayne Sheppard or Tribal Tech though.

Kenny Wayne Sheppard plays the blues. He's huge in the States right now. He's seen as the next Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Tribal Tech plays fusion. You'll need to appreciate jazz to listen to them, eventhough the guitar player, Scott Henderson, is one of the best around.

Well I have to say I have'nt changed the tapes in my car for months, I think I'll make a few new mp3 compliation's tapes.
The one's I like most are
DJ Shadow, Dj Krush (He's playing in Dublin this weekend),
Ed Rush, Optical, Grooverider, Ez rollers, Crystal Method, Orbital, leftfeild , Underworld, Moby, Led Zepplin, Early Metallica, Some megadeth, Aphex Twin, FSOL the list is endless but that should give you an idea

Showing my age, Leonard Cohen, greatest hits, Eagles, Greatest hits, REM Eponymous, Aerosmith greatest hits, Santana (you guessed it) greatest hits, The best Punk album in the World (70's compilation) and the *** Pistols, greatest hits are regularly to be found in my changer.

All reasonable top down cruising music. I can't be bothered with albums, because I generally only like a few songs. I'll sit back now and wait for the ridicule.

Actually I had great fun playing Santana’s greatest hits at a house warmer over the weekend, isn’t that right Phil?! ;)

Justin, doesn't listening to Leonard Cohen not negate the excitement of cruising in the Boxster?

Toad, I like your style . Do you have an in-car mp3 player?

I'm saying nothing Whip!! That party is just a blur to me.

Whippy, no mp3 player yet, just my trusty burner & Technics tape deck patched thru the stereo, Use Winamp for fading songs in & out of songs so it very good for the car, except that tapes rattle & I've no glovebox.
But I can't decide if I should get a mp3 player (expensive) or a CD player & make up my own cd's (cheaper).
Maybe I'll wait ,until mp3 player are the size of a pack of smokes.... by then smokes will cost what an mp3 player costs now :)

I have similar tastes to Anders. When in the mood the changer contains Metallica, UFO, AC/DC, Motorhead, Thin Lizzy (for softer moments) etc etc. Occasionally I put Rush on the rack but there's a risk of going asleep at the wheel to those oh-so-dull riffs. Another day it might be Buddy Guy, Albert Collins, Johnny Winter and so on.

For calmer (especially night time) driving I'd go for Van Morrison, Pink Floyd, Bruce Springsteen an so on.
