Alright Folks?
I won't go into the exact details of how much I am currently paying cos I can't be sure that you are all sitting down....you would need to be, believe me! I am 24 with a 1.4 Bravo. I have been driving since June and have just passed my test yesterday...my question is: what's the crack with my premium now? I'd deffo be expecting a substantial drop....have any of you gotten much off after passing your test? Did it come into effect straight away?
I rang the insurance gangters (Quinn Direct, the only ones that would insure me) and they said they would haev to get back to me in a couple of days.....what should I be expecting? I don't want to get my hopes up too much!!!!
Cheers,

Congrats littlefotzer on passing!...Now onto the bad news!

You won't see *real* savings 'till

1) You have a full license
2) You have a full no claims bonus
3) You are 30+

Almost there.... :D

Yes, let us know if you get any discount on your insurance premium, and if its much of a difference.

BTW, I've heard it mentioned before that you should get your full driving license as soon as possible. When asked by the insurance companies how long you've had your full license, its not that date you've passed your test, but rather that start date on the actual license itself.

So if your provisional license is still valid for a while, don't make the mistake of holding on to it and then getting your full one when it expires.

Well.....the insurance gansters got back to me after only a small amount of harassment! I got a bit of a result actually! I am currently covered until june, and I pay in monthly installments, five left to pay. My monthly payments before the full license were a massive £288, but now after getting the full license my remaining 5 payments will be a reduced £170.41. That's a saving of nearly £600 which I am fairly pleased with!
Still a complete rip-off, but matbe I'll have a bit more money for Christmas now!!!

hey everybody, the pints are on littlefitzer! ;)

Well done. That quite a saving all right. Still, the new price should come down substantially over time :)

Having your full license should hopefully allow you to get more quotes next time round too, so it should allow you a little more choice.

I always shop around every year to ensure I get the best quote available. Your cheapest quote from company A one year may not necessarily mean they will be the cheapest next time around. So make sure you shop around when your insurance is due.
