Oops !!!
It was the 5 door model, I think that the legroom problem comes from the seat position your hips are higher and feel to be more forward, my knees are quite cramped and the lack of anywhere to put your left foot makes it feel worse than the pure mathematical dimensions would suggest.
It was the skywindow thingey, I don't think that there is a normal sunroof option.
The 147 is a fantastic looking car, but there is no improvement in boot space, the back seat is quite cramped if you have a lankey ******* like me driving. I was scared off the 147 by browsing a 147 owners forum, so many little problems that were accepted as normal, style over substance seems to be the order of the day for italian design and engineering.
I really enjoy driving my Bravo, but once that little voice in your head starts whispering about a new car it is hard to resist !!!
But did'nt the alfa 156 have some small problems at the begining that were eventually ironed out.
Most new cars go through this process. (don't they ;) )

Exactly....that gets back to what I was saying about Ireland beinga testbed. E.g. the Stilo isn't out in UK until next month!
Another example a while ago was the mgf. Here there were a few versions at first, which were gradually taken off the market here - but are still on sale in other countries, revised of course ;)
As for the name being littlefitzer, it's cos I have an older, bigger brother!!! :)

Thats right Phil. Early editions of the Alfa 156 suffered from an annoying rattle which appeared to originate somewhere from either the dash or the front windscreen. Bringing the car to the dealers to have it investigated didn't bring any solution either. I'd imagine it was some sort of design flaw, which got investigated and fixed in the factory when a good number of similar reports came in from the dealer network.
Fenris, many people think that the new Civic is ugly in design, especially with the gear leaver mounted on the dash. However, due to this design and a level cabin floor, the new Civic has the best interior space in its class (supposedly even more than that Accord!). Also, you shouldn’t have too many problems with reliability…well certainly not as many as a Fiat. Also it will commend a much better trade-in value. I remember asking a Peugeot dealer what car depreciates the least. His reply was ‘A Honda Civic’.

Well if you talk to anyone in the car servicing and fixing industry, who actually works on these 'new cars' day in day out, they will deffo say NO WAY!!!
My advice would be to stay away from new models, untill the little quirks have been ironed out.
Just think of the past :
The Audi TT were all recalled
The Mini One were recalled.
There's 2 from memory, but we all know that there is alot more cars that have been recalled in the past.

Don't forget the Merc A-Class that famously overturned in a moose test!!
The car then needed to be changed with uprated suspension settings and the addition of stability control.

Fenris / Littlefitzer,
Just wondering if either of you have considered trying out the new Toyota Corolla?

I had actually thought about it cos I heard it was coming out with a different look to the olderones, and a very competitive spec. But this morning I saw one, the first I've seen in the flesh and I didn't like it at all!!
I didn't like the rear of the car and the front still looks very toyota - y, Yaris like...and I hate that car!!!

Well you can't currently drive a safer car on Irish roads. The new Renault Laguna is the only car in Europe that has achieved the coveted 5 stars in NCAP test crash results.
BTW, just to let you know......
There's a new Nissan Primera coming soon (around March). Obviously, with Renault owning a considerable stake in Nissan, it’s expected that the new Primera will share the same platform that the Laguna uses.
If its as good as the Laguna, and with Nissan's better build quality and 3 year warranty, you might want to consider this an alternative.
You can read more about it here (http://www.4car.co.uk/jsp/main.jsp?lnk=231_2&reviewid=455&adkeyword=primera)
But hey, not wanting to put you off the purchase or anything Fenris! Best of luck if you go for it!
