Bus Strikes

Due to the bus strike, the increase in cars today on the roads in and around Dublin was incredible. The good thing though, is that most of the cars appeared to be full of passengers, who otherwise would have been stranded at home. The one thing that does spring to mind, however, is the severe lack of parking within the city centre. The increase in clamped cars during the bus strikes must be something serious. What I'd like to know is how do the Government expect an extra 200,000 people to simply ‘arrange’ their own transport, but yet do nothing to help the effort. IMHO, I reckon no clamping whatsoever should be carried out while the bus drivers are on strike. (And no, I haven’t been a recent victim either! )

This bus strike leaves everyone in a total mess. Taxi drivers the nice guys that they are, just add a large lump to the price because there's no other form of public transport.

Even with a car you can't win. The traffic in the morning's is crazy.

I'd know what I'd like to do with them all. Line them all up together and see if I can break the world record of jumping over all the bus drivers in a double decker bus.

So the drivers have gone back to work for an extra £28 odd extra a week. Doesn't sound like an awful lot, was that what 200,000 bus users had to suffer for? Wouldn't even pay for a night down in the local. I think privatising the bus service would be a good thing for the drivers, sure would they be head hunted by the other companies for their 'skills'; its not everybody who'd be qualified to drive a bus, and also have a good knowledge of our cities roads to boot.

Still, it was good fun to be able to drive down the bus lane, even if most other drivers did the same making it the most congested lane to drive in!
